Governed data discovery

For over a year now, I have been advocating that with the emergence of easy to use, self-service visualization tools, access to data must be governed to ensure a level of data quality and accuracy. I am delighted to hear that Research firm Gartner have recently identified "governed data discovery" as a key area for BI vendors with many falling short in governance and enterprise manageability.

Microsoft Azure. Now open for business in Australia.

Microsoft has announced that on 27 October 2014, the Microsoft Azure Geo came online and is very much open for business.

With Microsoft Azure services hosted in two robust and secure Regions - the Southeast Region in Victoria and the East Region in NSW - customers can expect to benefit from vastly improved performances, lower latency and the ability to keep data in-country and compliant.

Expert Skills are very excited by this announcement. When speaking to our customers, having Australian data stored in datacenters overseas was ranked among top issues relating to adopting cloud computing.
